How do I change the password for an FTP user?

For security reasons it is advised to sometimes change your FTP users password. Note that you do not have to know the current FTP password in order to change it.

You have one overall main FTP user, which has access to all your files. You can create additional users which can only access specific folders. This guide will show you how to change the password of both these types.

1. Begin by logging in Here


2. If you have multiple webservices, find the one which has the FTP user you want to change password for. Start by finding that webservice in your Dashboard


3. When you have found the webservice, click FTP settings. This will send you to a new page.


4. The current page will show you various FTP settings for the chosen webhotel. It will also show a list of additional FTP users you may have created. 

4a. To change the password of the main user, click Edit Password found under the Security section. This will open a popup window where you can enter a new password. You will have to enter it twice to avoid typos.

4b. To change the password of any additional users, find the user whose password you want to change in the Sub accounts list. Directly to the right of the user name are a few buttons. Pressing the button with the little pen will open a popup window. Enter the new password twice to avoid typos. 


5. If you do not want to come up with yet another new password, you can use the button marked Generate password to have us automatically suggest a strong password. When you are satisfied with the new password, click Submit. Your FTP user's password is now changed.
